The Courier - Sluggers to Become Member of GLSCL

TROY – When the Flag City Sluggers begin play next summer, they will do so as a member of an established, venerable baseball league.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League announced on Thursday that the Sluggers will join its ranks in 2025.

The GLSCL, which was formed in 1987, is a wood-bat organization that is certified by the NCAA and partially funded by Major League Baseball.

A release from the league said that the Sluggers spent nearly one year preparing a presentation of acceptance.

The Sluggers will play their home games at the Marathon Diamonds. In joining the GLSCL, the organization should have potential rivalries with the Lima Locos and the Grand Lake Mariners (Grand Lake plays in Celina).

With Flag City joining next year, the GLSCL will have eight teams, with franchises in Ohio and Michigan.
