The Courier - Ball rolling for Flag City Sluggers

FINDLAY — With the release of their new logo, the Flag City Sluggers are underway for a debut season next year.

Joe Fenimore’s love for America’s favorite pastime, and Findlay’s rich past of previous Minor League Baseball teams, inspired the development of the Flag City Sluggers.

The Sluggers, a nonprofit team soon to be in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, was a backyard dream come true for Fenimore and something he wanted to bring back to Findlay.

“We’re really excited to get this ball on the ground and rolling,” Fenimore said. “We can’t wait to bring baseball back into Findlay.”

Fenimore, a board of directors and a staff of student interns have spent the last weeks preparing for the first pitch season next year. The staff this year includes recent Bowling Green State University communications alum Jacob Klein, University of Findlay business administration student Joe Kroeger, Ohio University journalism student Ethan Franks and Miami University sports management student Charles Anderson.

After launching their website and merch line earlier this week, the Sluggers’ staff also unveiled their logo.

“We wanted to give off a minor league feel, similar to the Toledo Mud Hens,” Klein, the team’s first marketing intern, said.

The logo and mascot feature a blue slug named Slider.

“Slider is a quick witted, faster than molasses slug. He’s got fast speed lines to prove it. He’s also pretty good at baseball,” the website states. “His only downside is a constant trail of slime that follows him wherever he goes.”

The team is collecting sponsorships and donations to get the team officially on track for a 2025 debut season and the community can email info@flagcitysluggers.com for more information on how to get involved with the team’s startup.
